U.S. Congress

Congress is the bicameral legislature that serves as the lawmaking body of the U.S. government with elected representatives serving the interests of the people. The upper house (Senate) maintains equal representation, where two senators are elected in each state. In contrast, the lower house (or House of Representatives, as it is known) is allocated representation based on population.
