Legislative Branch - House of Representatives

Congress is the bicameral legislature that serves as the lawmaking body of the U.S. government with elected representatives serving the interests of the people. The House of Representatives, or lower chamber, consists of individuals who represent designated districts within each state. The number of representatives in the House is determined by the population of the states. Members of the House directly represent the people and are therefore re-elected every two years. As representatives of the population, the House retains the power to impeach federal officials.
