Political parties are an association of voters who share common beliefs about government policy. The political party plays an important role in setting the public agenda by helping to get their candidates elected to public office. In doing so, they may publish pamphlets that summarize the beliefs of each of the candidates who is on the ballot (e.g., ranging from President and Vice President, to party candidates in state and local elections), which is sometimes referred to as the Democratic or Republican ticket.
