Elections - Democratic Party

The United States has a two party system, where there are primarily two major political parties who compete to earn a majority of votes in elections. The Democratic platform usually includes policy statements that support higher taxes, increased government involvement in public service programs (e.g., funding for healthcare, education, or welfare), strict gun control, and less direct military involvement abroad.
